Advancing Interdisciplinary Health Education
The Baustert Bahwell Health Technology Center will be a cutting-edge facility that brings together programs in nursing, audiology, speech-language pathology, physical therapy and more. Funded in part by a landmark $40 million gift from the Baustert Family Foundation, the Center will feature advanced labs, clinical spaces and technology-rich classrooms to prepare culturally responsive health professionals for real-world impact.
Meeting Workforce Needs and Serving the Region
As the demand for skilled healthcare providers grows, the center will expand training opportunities, foster collaborative learning and strengthen care delivery across northern Illinois. With nearly 80% of NIU graduates staying in the region, the center will help address workforce shortages and health disparities, while attracting top talent and expanding the university’s capacity for research and service.
